February Album Writing Month Failed

Album Cover by Patric

So, I meant to post about FAWM all month, but I didn’t make the time; which, oddly enough, is the theme of this post. FAWM stands for February Album Writing Month. It is a challenge to write 14 songs (enough for an album) in one month (Feb). That means 1 song every 2 days. You can find out more at thier site.

My friends have been talking about it for a couple of years, so this year I wanted to give it a try.  The beginning of the month I was doing pretty well. I had at the very least a song in the works every two days. That was until about the 16th.  For some reason at that point, life took over and I didn’t make time for songs.

Anyway, I was able to finish 4 songs. That means I recorded a beginning, middle, and end for them. It doesn’t mean they are clean or refined. I have about 4 other half songs sitting half-recorded on my computer. Take a look at my FAWM profile if you want. Otherwise, the four songs I recorded are below.

Also please check out my friend’s FAWM profiles. Paul Otteson had a concept for his album from the start and I think he pulled  it off beautifully. Cody Statz also finished all 14 songs for a complete album full of wonderment. Congratulations to you two and to anyone reading that completely the challenge.

Cry Off was written for a sketch that can be viewed on youtube.

Imagination was a song I couldn’t find words for, so I didn’t put any in.

I don’t know what to say about Machine.

While I was writing a different song (that has yet to be finished), I was talking to Mike Buck and decided to whip together this acapella song. The harmonies are not quite in tune, so mind your ears.
